Capital City's Food Pantry is located at the Tavares Community Center, 285 Chad Brown Street, Providence, RI. The center is open Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The pantry provides fresh produce (Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.), canned and frozen food products, meats, fish and poultry to the low-to-moderate income people of Smith Hill and surrounding neighborhoods.
Annually, we distribute more than 200,000 pounds of food, and the amount continues to increase, as need is constantly growing.
Our goal is to ensure that no child, adult or family goes hungry on our watch. We are pleased to be a distribution point for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The operation of the Food Pantry is made possible through the generous donations of the Rhode Island Foundation, the Rhode Island Senate and Hasbro Children's Fund, and many generous individual contributors.
If you are in need of food assistance, please contact our Food Pantry Manager, Erin Brady, at 401-207-4638. Erin will make arrangements to meet with you, to discuss your needs, and provide you with information about guidelines and eligibility for food assistance.
