Capital City Community Center is pleased to announce that our Smith Hill Early Childhood Learning Center (SHECLC) will provide pre-kindergarten (PreK) education to 90 children who live in Providence. SHECLC, affiliated with Gateway Healthcare, a Lifespan partner, is a 5-star quality-rated program. The Rhode Island Department of Education’s Pre-kindergarten Program funds free, high-quality pre-kindergarten classes in selected RI communities.

To be eligible for Cap City’s PreK program, children must be four years old by Thursday, September 1 and residents of Providence. Children are selected for participation in the program through a state-run lottery. Families can apply online or they may download the application by clicking on the link below. The application includes a list of all of the Pre-K sites across the State.

Apply online at: https://ripreklottery.ride.ri.gov. Contact Deborah Durant, SHECLC Director at 401-455-3890 for more information. Applications are due by Sunday, June 18, 2023.
